So begins our second segment of Brush University: Best Blush Brushes! Today we are discussing blush brush basics! Are you without a blush brush? Or maybe you have a whole mess of brushes that you aren’t sure what to do with. Read along to find out which ones are right for you!
Below are Jennie Kay’s top picks for Blush Brushes
1. Small Flat Dome Shape Blush Brush
Great for: This makeup brush is perfect for shading, highlighting and contouring. I love the tapered shape of the brush it allows to easily hug the curves of the face without adding too much product.
2. Contouring Flat Blush Brush
Great for: Sculpting and carving out the contours of the face. If you want an easy brush to to fit perfectly right below your cheek bone to carve it out, pick up this beauty!
3. Tapered Blush Brush
Great for: This oval headed brush is ideal for contouring; tighter at the base and loose wavy fibers at the top. Ideal for use with compact or loose powder blushes! Now why would you use this blush brush over the Bdellium Studio 960 Precision Blusher? You would use this brush over that one when you want to apply less color and you are not as worried about precision.
4. Angled Contour Blush Brush
Love this: Because of the angled design of this brush, it is especially helpful when contouring the face, as it hugs the natural structure and curves of the face. Now why would you use this brush over the Illamasqua Blush up brush. You would choose this one when you are not looking to create such a hard contour line. This is an ideal brush for a soft more seamless blush application that will allow you to slightly contour your cheek.
5. Duo Fiber Blush Brush
Great For: A lighter blush application. What I love about this duo fiber brush is that it diffuses the color. When the bristles of the brush are tight and more compact they add more product thus resulting in a higher color payoff. When they are looser at the the tip of the brush like this it will give you a very seamless, natural application of color.
6. Duo Fiber Flat Blush Brush
Love this: I love this brush mostly for its ability to be used with cream or liquid blushes. The tight bristles on the bottom and loose bristles on top allow for more product to be deposited on the area.
