I’m excited to show you all how to incorporate sequins into your wardrobe this holiday season. For our first Sequin Saturday we have created this day to night look with the help of these amazing finds. Your daytime look should be kept simple, fresh, and sleek with blown out hair, a pair of flats, and casual bottoms – a pair of slacks or jeans…What do you think?
Daytime: Alice and Olivia Sequin Sweater / Pants Gap -past season- similar / Shoes- Sam Edelman- similar / Bow Bracelet – Kiel James Patrick / Ring & Bracelet- Chloe and Isabel by Steph / Earrings Vintage – similar
The day time look is both fun and casual, and have a “Newport Nautical” touch with the help of this Kiel James Patrick bow bracelet; this look would be perfect for a downtown stroll, cookie swap, or coffee date. I also love the look of the chambray-style stripe pants, and the idea of rocking these in the wintertime! These were an unexpected find at the Gap in Newport one day last Spring!
Oh, and about these shoes. These Sam Edelman flats have seen better days but I am too in love to part with them just yet! These babies a TjMaxx steal a few years back and they are SO comfortable.
To style my hair for this daytime look I prepped my hair wet with Schwarzkopf Oil Potion this really helps to be able to comb through my hair too. I then applied Bumble + Bumble Styling Lotion, and sectioned my hair off to blow dry it with this mid sized round brush from Ulta. Pay special attention to the ends to round and smooth it in towards the face. To finish the style I cock-tailed Schwarzkopf Osis 4-play and again a bit of the Schwarzkopf Oil Potion only on the ends of your hair never going past the midshaft. Just stay on the ends and start underneath in the back of your hair that way by the time you work you way to the front you have less product on your hands.
To transition your look for the evening, start by waving the hair, throw on a pair of high heels, a fabulous skirt, and your ready for a night on the town!
I have been using Joico Shampoo for red hair lately to enhance my color. I am not sure if I am impressed by it or not, and I’m not sure it has enough pigment to help enhance my color inbetween me coloring it myself?!
For this makeup look (my skin was quite dry this day), I prepped my skin several times by moisturizing with First Aid Beauty Dual Repair Face Cream (also try the Dual Repair Kit) and priming with Hourglass Mineral Veil . My Foundation was applied with a wet Beauty blender sponge which really helped to move the product around on my face. I used Armani Silk Foundation; I mix a a drop of the color #2 into #4.
On this day, I skipped the bronzer and opted for a cheek tint from my new favorite line, Josie Maran – eeeek I love her stuff! I used her Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in Honeymoon Honey. I dabbed this on my cheeks and lips. The color is very very sheer which makes it very easy to put on. It is also a buildable product so you can keep applying more to get the perfect amount of color that you want on your face. Also, the texture is amazing – it reminds me of jello…and actually, I could have put a tad bit more on!
Nighttime: Alice and Olivia Sequin Sweater / Nasty Gal Fur Skirt / Anthropologie Belt/ Elizabeth and James Booties Similar / Bracelet Chloe and Isabel by Steph / Earrings Vintage-similar / Shoes, Sweater both purchased at TjMaxx
This look has the perfect balance of both class and edge. With Nasty Gals fur real skirt, a sequin top , Suede Booties, and the perfect amount of sparkle and curls can take your look to another level for those late night outings and holiday parties. You can even add a bright pop for your lip to add a bit more fun to the entire look. To amp up my look, I waved my hair with the 1.25 Sedu Iron, taking big sections to create a very effortless wave in my hair (there is a tutorial below) which helps to dress up a look. I then added a different color blush, Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip And Cheek Creamy Oil Limitless Pink. I chose this because it helps to hydrate and nourish your skin during New England cold and dry weather, making it appear younger and healthier. This oil is applied to both your lips and cheeks. You must try this product, I promise you will love it! Right now Sephora has mini trial duo pack here.
After you learn how to wave your hair by watching our tutorial below. I flipped my head over and sprayed it with Bumble and Bumble thickening Dryspun Finishing Spray
which helped to add some fullness. Lastly jtake a small piece on one side of your head and pull it back loosely and pin in place shown in the picture below.
One Last look at the two looks side by side
